Matthew Sheahan is the founder and key producer of PlanetSail a YouTube sailing channel that has over 90,000 subscribers and over half a million views a month.
He has been a sailing journalist and broadcaster for 34 years. He started with Yachting World magazine in 1992 where he was racing and technical editor for 24 years. While continuing as a freelance contributor to the magazine he moved to TV sports production company Sunset+Vine where he was Head of Sailing and produced the World Sailing Show.
From America’s Cup to the Olympics and many round the world races, he has reported on many of the world’s top regattas. He is a keen motorcyclist and pilot having competed in many cross country gliding competitions.
A keen racing sailor since childhood, he qualified as a yacht designer at what is now Solent University before starting his career in the industry at Proctor Masts where he specialised in racing yacht masts.
